Mehfil lets you watch YouTube videos in sync with other people, chat, and talk in voice rooms. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why, and what we do with it. We have tried to keep it specific rather than vague.

Who we are

What we collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:

• Your Google account ID
• Your name
• Your email address
• Your Google profile picture URL

We do not receive or store your Google password, and we cannot access anything else in your Google account.

What you choose to add to your profile:

• A username (public handle)
• A short bio
• A profile photo you upload, which is stored on our server

What you do in the app:

• Rooms you create or join, and when you joined them
• Chat messages you send in a room
• The YouTube video a room is playing and its playback position
• Whether your microphone is muted

Voice audio. When you speak in a voice room, your audio is streamed live through our own LiveKit server so other people in the room can hear you. We do not record or store voice audio. It passes through and is gone.

What we do not collect

• We do not collect your location.
• We do not collect your contacts.
• We do not use advertising or third-party analytics trackers.
• We do not sell your data. To anyone. Ever.

Why we collect it

• To sign you in and keep you signed in.
• To show you to other people in a room — your name, photo and username appear to people you share a room with.
• To make rooms work — syncing video, delivering chat, and knowing who is present.

Who can see your data

Your name, username, bio and profile photo are public to anyone in a room with you. Chat messages you send are visible to everyone in that room. Your email address is not shown to other users.

Who we share it with

Two external services are involved in normal use:

• Google Sign-In — used to authenticate you. Google's own privacy policy applies to that: policies.google.com/privacy.
• YouTube — videos play through YouTube's embedded player, so YouTube may collect data as it normally would when you watch a video.

How long we keep it

• Your account and profile are kept until you ask us to delete them.
• Rooms are deleted automatically once the last person leaves.
• Chat messages are stored with the room and removed when the room is deleted.
• Voice audio is never stored.

Deleting your data

You can ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it at any time. Email orbenotechnologies@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, and we will delete your account, profile, uploaded photo and messages within 30 days.

Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Sign-in tokens are held in the secure storage provided by your device (Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android).

Children

Mehfil is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
